MACY'S THANKSGIVING PARADE
The Macy's parade store takes 100 years to fill the streets of New York with color.
In fact, what I had as reference of the parade is what I have seen in the media and in series.
Thermal sensation of -13 degrees, anticipating a very cold parade, they say the coldest Thanksgiving Day of the last 25 years.
7 am. Our arrival at Central Park West Street already showed a considerable number of people waiting; some with blankets, dads trying to cover as much as possible their children, even loaded with sleeping bags to shelter from the cold, coffee, hot chocolate, nothing served before a cold that gave no respite.
The sidewalks begin to fill with more and more spectators, policemen guarding the streets, some vendors pass by offering turkey hats, cotton candy, but you can not see anyone with coffee (Millionaire idea if you are a neighbor of those streets).
9am the parade begins ... Student bands, police, firemen, music and television personalities, cheerleaders, allegorical cars decorated the streets but the expectation is always the balloons ... some of them need up to 60 people to move them, which uniforms represent what very carefully hold.
The police and firefighters of New York parade and immediately start the applause and thanks of those present, the "New Yorkers" are always grateful to those whose service is to protect them.
Music of the student bands (which are impressive live), dances of the cheerleaders, the laughter of children excited to see the balloons, everything makes a festive atmosphere that helps little to warm up.
The last and most applauded car was Santa's, the excited children shouted at him and with that they closed the parade.
I think what impresses me the most is all the deployment of people needed to be able to carry it out, from the logistics, the closure of streets, security, the states that are represented in the student or cheerleading gangs, the people who hold balloons, those that coordinate, those that go disguised, those that dance ... endless work.
New York will always be a city where the show reigns and the Macy's parade is historically part of that.
